Perth Glory Appoints Alen Stajcic as Head Coach
AUCKLAND — A-League Men’s team Perth Glory unveiled their decision on Thursday to appoint Alen Stajcic, the former coach of the Philippine Women’s National Football Team.
Stajcic will be joined by his long-standing assistant Nahuel Arrarte and analyst Stevan Antonic.
“I believe an incredible opportunity now exists to restore Glory’s stature as one of the powerhouses of Australian football, and this vision is unanimously shared among all members of the club,” Stajcic stated.
“I draw great assurance from the foundation that has been laid in the past year to steer the club toward success again, and I am thrilled to contribute to advancing this process.”
This development signifies Stajcic’s reentry into the professional football scene since his tenure with the Central Coast Mariners from 2019 to 2021.
During his time there, the 49-year-old coach led Central Coast to the FFA Cup semifinals in the 2019-2020 season and the A-League finals in the 2020-2021 season.
Stajcic’s recent accomplishment includes his remarkable journey in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with the Philippine Women’s National Football Team, highlighted by a memorable 1-0 victory against the host nation, New Zealand, in Wellington.
“Perth has a rich legacy in football and has played a significant role in player development,” Stajcic commented.
“Our vision is to once again provide the Perth football community with a team and club that they can genuinely take pride in.”
